100 Word Challenge

The weight of the metal wings resting on my back were a constant reminder of everything that I’d been through to get to this moment. My mothers death, and my sisters betrayal rest in the back of my mind as I focus on this moment. I pause, and bend slightly, ready to soar, and as I lept into the air, I knew it was going to work. I cried in joy. I didn’t realise they could fly… let alone carry my weight. My smile penetrated all my thoughts of grief and loss as all the darkness in my life floated toward the empty sky. At least for now.
